Schein Forestry and Fire Consulting
Ken Schein has been training forest firefighters since the 1980s. His experiences on the fireline, on many of the large complex fires in the Western States, gave him a unique perspective on the proper techniques and procedures that assure firefighter safety.
In 2006, Ken was invited to create a logger safety training course for the Forest Guild. Working from outlines, he created a course that was content rich and won the stamp of approval from insurance adjusters in the State of New Mexico - allowing significant savings on loggers' workers' compensation costs for everyone passing the course. The course includes CBRNE training, as well as equipment safety training.
Ken works with private organizations, volunteer and municipal fire departments, as well as government agencies. He also serves as a adjunct professor in Fire Science at University - Missouri Columbia and Northern New Mexico College.
Ken has a degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University, and has taken many management courses and training courses over the years. He has been called an "entertrainer" by one client, because he uses humor and candidness to relay the facts and objectives of the training while maintaining his rapport with all students. He commmunicates effectively, and is able to get technical lessons across to those who may not have technical backgrounds. He retired in 2003, after 26 years with the New Mexico State Forestry Division, where he spent more than 23 years as the District Manager for the Chama District.
